Here is my statement on the proposed closure of the Stratford ArtsHouse:

“I very much regret that the ArtsHouse is facing closure. It is a much loved venue and will be greatly missed by many, especially those who visit regularly and those groups who rely on it as a venue for performances or other events.

“I understand that funding from the Town Trust was due to end in March this year and that no application was made for funding beyond this time. The Town Trust is subject to considerable demands for its funds and those responsible for it do have to make difficult decisions on how these funds would be best spent.

“If a sustainable funding model for the ArtsHouse can be designed and presented to the Town Trust then I have no doubt the Trust will reconsider funding for the ArtsHouse going forward. I am happy to help in any way I can to mediate this process”.
