Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi has today welcomed funding announced by the Department for Transport for improvements at Junction 3 of the M42 in the north of the Stratford on Avon constituency.
In November 2016, the Chancellor announced the Government’s commitment to allocate an extra £220 million to relieve congestion on the Strategic Road Network. £23 million has today been allocated to the Midlands region, with £4.2 million of this designated for Junction 3 of the M42.
Commenting, Mr Zahawi said:
“I am delighted to learn that £4.2 million from the Government’s Congestion Relief Programme is to be spent within my constituency. In addition to this, there is a further £14 million within the Midlands budget that is yet to be allocated. I believe this announcement shows the Government’s clear commitment to investing in the Midlands, and that such an announcement is particularly apt given yesterday’s publication of the Midlands Engine Strategy by the Department for Communities and Local Government”.
