Gordon Brown has finally stopped dithering and gone to the queen to request a dissolution of parliament this morning. This is fantastic news for the voters and people of this country who finally get a chance to remove this failing government and return a Conservative Majority.
Make no doubt about it, this will not be an easy campaign, the Labour election machine will spin, lie and smear it's way through the next 30 days. Even here in Stratford we mustn't take anything for granted.
I have said many times that my greatest enemy is apathy. The scandals of the past 12 months, be they ludicrous expense claims or MPs describing themselves as cabs for hire at £5,000 a day, have all damaged politics. That is why I will be out in the constituency every day, meeting voters, listening to their issues and reminding them of the clear choice they have. Either five more years of Gordon Brown or a Conservative government led by David Cameron. A government that will balance the books, get Britain working again and deliver an enterprise economy. We have done it before under Thatcher and we will do it again.
