Nadhim Zahawi met Holocaust and genocide survivors ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January , including Lily Ebert BEM, Steven Bešo and Steven Frank BEM.
Nadhim said:
“It was sobering to meet such inspiring people. We have to keep alive the memory of what has gone before so future generations learn from it and do not forget.”
This year marks 77 years since the liberation of the concentration camps of Europe and the end of the Second World War. On the 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, people across the globe pay tribute and remember.
On Holocaust Memorial Day Nadhim Zahawi placed a candle in his window.
He said:
“By making this simple gesture, not only do we encourage ourselves to reflect on the horrors of the Holocaust, we also send a message as a society we will never permit the scourge of antisemitism to take hold again.”
