Nadhim Zahawi visited the Newson Health Menopause & Wellbeing Centre, in Stratford-on-Avon for a useful discussion with Dr Louise Newson and Dr Rebecca Lewis concerning the needs of women going through menopause.
Dr Newson advised inadequate menopause care can lead to significant health risks for women as well as being a reason for many women to leave their jobs.
It is clear greater support needs to be offered to menopausal and peri-menopausal women across the country.
Menopause has been selected as a priority topic for the upcoming Women’s Health Strategy and the Government has announced a number of measures to improve the support available to women experiencing the menopause. These include, pending the outcome of our consultation, reducing the costs of Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Additionally, a new cross-party Menopause Taskforce is considering how education and training, workplace policies and peer groups can support affected women.
