Yesterday the Labour government proved, yet again, that they have no new ideas. Their fantastic idea to cut the stamp duty threshold for first time buyers, was of course a Conservative idea first, just like cutting the inheritance tax threshold was.
What about the hard decisions that need to be made on cutting our enormous deficit and dealing with bloat in the public sector. The best they can do on taking these hard decisions is to relocate people! You ask any business man and he will tell you moving people round inside a business instead of right sizing is just a cop out.
And let's not forget about how it will effect our constituency directly, a huge tax increase on cider, damaging our local Cider producer Hogan Cider, just as we feared, and continued increases in fuel duty (delays in it's introduction change nothing) which affect rural communities so much more than the urban elites and the London dwellers of this government.
All in all this budget was exactly that, a cop out budget, from a cop out chancellor, of a cop out government. The real budget, that will continue to stimulate growth, create real private sector jobs and cut the deficit in a meaningful and costed way will be delivered by a Conservative Government after the Election.
