The traffic in Stratford has been a chronic problem for some time, and I myself am regularly affected. Due to high numbers of complaints from constituents, I decided that something needed to be done.

My first step was to call a public meeting which was held on the 4th of July 2014. At the meeting I had the key stakeholders present to listen to feedback from the public and ensure they were aware of the concerns of local residents. This first summit was followed by a further two summits in 2014 and 2015. I then chaired a public meeting in early 2016 to launch a consultation on Warwickshire County Council’s proposals for options on alleviating congestion on the Birmingham Road.

The culmination of this has been the production of a Transport Strategy for the Stratford-upon-Avon area, produced jointly by Warwickshire County Council and Stratford District Council. The consultation for this was launched at a public meeting on 9th February 2017 and the consultation closed on 23rd March. Warwickshire County Council is now considering the responses.

The Campaign so far:
  • 4th July 2014: First Traffic Summit
  • 3rd October 2014: Second Traffic Summit
  • 5th March 2015: Third Traffic Summit
  • 29th July 2015: Update from the Third Traffic Summit.
  • 22nd January 2016: Public Meeting to launch consultation on proposed solutions to traffic on Birmingham Road
  • 9th February 2017: Public Meeting to launch consultation on the Transport Strategy for the Stratford-upon-Avon area.

I’m not currently an MP, as Parliament has been dissolved until after the General Election on 8th June 2017.
